from Smooth Machine Control,
released March 3, 2023
We are pleased to welcome Metropolitan Soul Museum to Pr0gramma! Smooth Machine Control is a gritty smooth melodically atmospheric 40 mins of unique dance canvas. This 6-track collection is a cauldron of paradox. Sumar’s Table opens the mini LP with a simultaneously frightening yet infectious groove - kicks and bass-lines are still man’s best friend. No 18 melts these elements down into a lethargic brew of near lucid quality. King Kong is a wakeup call. Don’t fall asleep at the wheel. This conscious, high saturation trip of driving bass-lines and veiled chords is offset by a lighter pallet of sharp percussive echoes and brighter melodies - a unique fulcrum point for the album. Smooth Mission Control, Small Pleasures, and Electric Bateaux continue this dance of atmospheric dream-like harmonies, absolutely no-nonsense rhythms, and catchy licks. Rounding out the album, it somehow feels like it belongs equally to the annals of electronic dance music as well as solidly to the present day – just another duality.
